The Case

The Financial Authority building at Gänsemarkt, designed by Fritz Schumacher, stands as an iconic example of architecture in Hamburg. In this film, Dr. Andreas Dressel, Senator of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and President of the Financial Authority, along with Andreas Lohrer, who lived and worked in the building as the janitor from 1984 to 2021, offer a unique and personal perspective on the building.

Through their eyes, the film explores the architectural significance of the structure while showcasing its history and everyday life in an engaging, fresh light. This project is a collaboration between the Fritz-Schumacher Society and the Financial Authority of Hamburg, offering a rare insight into one of the city’s most significant buildings.
